As you may know, I am a Board Member for the St. Charles Parish United Way. I have been on the Board for about 3 years and currently serve as the Secretary/Treasurer and Finance Committee Chairperson. The time I volunteer to the United Way of St. Charles Parish is well worth it for me personally.
This organization does a fantastic job of addressing many of the needs of our local community by partnering with local non-profit agencies to provide services that address a wide range of community needs and organizational goals. I encourage you to learn more about our local United Way of St. Charles Parish or your local United Way and get involved.
Recently, the UWSC held our annual Victory Celebration at Ormond Plantation in Destrehan, Louisiana. This event caps off the United Ways yearly fundraising campaign and gives all involved a few hours to reflect on the success of our organization and our community. I was privileged to speak (you can see a pre-speech picture here) at the event on the behalf of the entire Board of Directors and thank everyone in attendance for their continued support in making our community a better place. You can view some of the pictures through the UWSC’s website.
I would also like to mention that the United Way of St. Charles is sponsoring the Bridge Run on March 31, 2011. This exciting 5K & 10K road race takes participants from the east bank of the Mississippi River in Destrehan, Louisiana to the west bank of the Mississippi River in Luling, Louisiana across the Hale Boggs Bridge. If you are a runner or know a runner, please have them check out our race and sign up through the United Way.
